Abstract
A new nonlinear optical laser surface profilometer with micron spatial resolution is considered. It is shown that at the spectrograph resolution 0,23 nm the spatial resolution of the proposed method can achieve the value 22,5 mm.

Abstract
The experimental assessment of laser triangulators applicability for hot rolling thickness measurement is carried out. It is shown that the existence of the phase inhomogeneity caused by strong temperature gradients brings the serious distortions in laser triangulators optical signals that finally leads to essential increase of measurement error.

Abstract
The basic information about optical dielectric microresonators with whispering gallery type modes is presented. The manufacturing methods, applications, and a brief history of the most important last time achievements in this rapidly developing area are described. Such microresonators can be used in highly stable sources of microwave signals and optical frequency comb generators allowing to link the optical and radio frequency standards.
